The Law Offices of Leigh Herman is a boutique litigation firm specializing in employment law, including wrongful termination, harassment, discrimination and employment contract and termination issues. The firm also practices in civil rights actions, administrative and civil actions against public entities such as cities, counties and districts as well as general business disputes.
During her nearly 20 years as a civil trial lawyer, Leigh Herman has tried over 100 cases and has developed a reputation as a fierce and intelligent advocate who hates to lose. Tough, always prepared and with a keen insight, she has earned the respect of both her adversaries and colleagues.
After 17 years representing employment defendants, in 2007 Ms. Herman opened her own firm in order to assist workers. During her time representing defendants, Ms. Herman noticed an inequity both in the power structure between employers and employees and the way in which employees were sometimes treated unfairly and in a discriminatory manner. In opening her own firm, Ms. Herman wanted to be able to assist those employees who needed a strong advocate to even the playing field.
Ms. Herman graduated in the top 12% of her class at the UCLA School of Law and went on to practice in business law at top-rated large law firms, most notably Morrison & Forrester, before joining the public sector.
From 1997 to 2007, Ms. Herman practiced as a Deputy County Counsel at the San Mateo County Counsel’s Office, concentrating in the areas of employment law and civil rights. While there, Sheriff Don Horsley cited her for her excellent trial work on behalf of the Sheriff’s Office. In 1995, Chief Probation Officer, Loren Buddress and the Probation Department also cited Ms. Herman for her work “above and beyond” on their behalf. In 2007 the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors presented Ms. Herman with a certificate of excellence for her ten years of exemplary service.
Ms. Herman is a long time member of the California State Bar, theSan Mateo County Bar Association and is also a member of the Consumer Attorneys of California and the California Employment Lawyers Association. |
